May 2020

For weeks we have been following with concern all the measures announced by the government due to the uncertainty generated by the VIDOC-19 pandemic. We had set a date of early June for a formal decision. Since there is no longer any room for doubt, it is with regret, but with conscience and responsibility that we inform you that our 34th edition will be postponed to 2021. The health and safety of the drivers, teams, partners, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers, as well as that of the numerous spectators, remain our priority.

A reflection based on the decisions of the authorities. Recently, many riders, spectators and partners have been showing their support and worrying about the maintenance of our 34th edition of the Mondial du Quad. Until the extension of the confinement, the whole organization team imagined all the possible scenarios and everything was being set up so that the race could take place. Following the intervention of the Prime Minister and the announcement of the modalities of the deconfinement, we won’t be allowed to organize our event at the dates initially planned. We are, of course, extremely sad not to be able to ensure this event.

A postponement to better prepare 2021! It is indeed a postponement in view of the actions already undertaken for this edition. The dates in 2021 cannot be defined for the moment but it will probably be in the second half of August, as every year.

However, this postponement will have a significant cost that the association will have to bear. A core group of volunteers, but also two salaried employees and service providers have been working since September 2019 to prepare this event, and moreover, from the end of the summer, we will be starting up again for the 2021 edition. At the same time, we have to ensure the maintenance of the 40 hectare site, which cannot be left in the same state until next year. We are counting on the drivers, partners and exhibitors to accompany us, support us during this difficult period and enable us to continue to offer them this great motor sports festival by postponing their commitments until 2021. We also count on the town of Pont de Vaux, the Bresse and Saône Community of Communes, the Ain department and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region to maintain their faithful and precious help. The cancellation of this 2020 edition also puts in great difficulty all the actors linked to this formidable human adventure: service providers, suppliers, traders of Pont de Vaux who work every day during the weeks around the Mondial. We would like to show them our most sincere support by also having a thought for our friends volunteers, track marshals and race directors without whom nothing would be possible. Our frustration is great, we imagine that yours is too.

We remain at your disposal for any question and we look forward to seeing you in 2021, the party will be even more beautiful!

Take care of yourself and your loved ones and see you soon,

The team of the 12 Hours of Pont-de-Vaux Mondial du Quad organized by AMPV, moto-club, Ain, France – President M. Bernard Maingret
